Hispanic Youth Symposium

Two hundred youth from the 10 county region are selected to participate in a four day experience that brings together high school students to a local college campus to experience college life and learn how to prepare for a professional career and a lifetime of community involvement.

HYS 2009 Donor Report Sessions focus on college applications, scholarships, community activism, pride in the Hispanic heritage, college fair, Careers in business, science, engineering, technology, and math. All students meet “Hispanic heroes” who serve as mentors throughout the four days. Students live in a dorm and are provided a residential advisor for supervision. Students compete for scholarships through art, speech, and other competitions.

This life changing event involves hundreds of community volunteers, corporate sponsors, in helping to promote self-confidence and leadership amongst the students.
